Sysco have significant experience working in the public sector and deliver training programmes to local councils, the local combined authority, NHS trusts and governmental bodies. We have been working with Wirral Council since 2017 to help them implement an ambitious leadership and management programme that has now provided training to over 100 middle and senior managers.
Rob Newton is the Streetcare Team Leader in the Call Centre leading a large team of staff to help provide excellent customer service to Wirral residents and service users. We spoke to him to find out his views on the apprenticeship so far…

Q: Hi Rob, why did you decide to complete an apprenticeship?
A: I began the apprenticeship to update my skills so that I could do my role more effectively. I also think it is important to work on your own personal development.
Q: How have you found the support from Sysco’s trainers?
A: 5 out of 5. My trainer has always been encouraging and supportive and helped to keep me on schedule. We have agreed realistic deadlines which take in to account my learning style and workload.
Q: How has the Apprenticeship helped you to progress in your current role?

Q: What are the best aspects of learning?
A: The group sessions and meeting colleagues from different work areas.
Q: Would you recommend Sysco?
A: Yes – Level and quality of course material is very good eg folders, work booklets and course handouts. Good facilities when doing mock tests for maths at Sysco office. Easy to use online tests.
