BA (Hons) in Performing Arts

Through a sub-contract agreement with the University of West London since 2024, Sysco have offered Performing Arts students BA (Hons) degree programmes. In the initial year of delivery, Sysco offered a top up BA (Hons) top up programme for students who had previously completed two years of HNC and HND qualifications.

From September 2025 onwards, Sysco will offer newly enrolled HE Performing Arts students the full 3-year BA (Hons) Performing Arts degree programme, progressing from Level 4 to Level 6 units across the length of the programme. The one-year BA (Hons) top up programme will also remain available for existing students whose HND programme came to an end in the 2024/25 academic year.

On the BA (Hons) Performing Arts programme, all practical activity is underpinned by theoretical and contextual study which also means that students will develop academic and research skills that could lead to the pursuit of higher qualifications. In addition to developing and demonstrating technical performance skills, students will also undertake a devised performance project and a community-based project. Both of these projects will offer students an opportunity to develop and create new work and experience other employment sectors within the industry.

The programme is a newly designed, bespoke curriculum tailored towards the industry expectations of Performing Arts students, but commensurate with degree-level academic expectations. This would encompass critical thinking, research and analysis skills, whilst also having a strong focus on performance progression, working in the industry, and elite performing arts training. The programme will maintain a balance of practical and academic provision, culminating in a final project comparable to those reflected in other degree-level programmes in the discipline area, and meeting learning outcomes commensurate with national standards.

The Tuition Fee for Sysco’s BA (Hons) Performing Arts degree programme through the University of West London in 2025/26 is £9,000. Further details around Loans and other financial support available can be found here (hyperlink to Financial Support page of website).
