Housing Training - Apprenticeship Standards


Sysco Business Skills Academy are now delivering Apprenticeship standards in our specialist areas of Housing and Leadership and Management. The Apprenticeship Standards are programmes of learning and development that have been designed by employers. They offer flexibility in the delivery of housing training, and are intended to increase the effectiveness of outcomes for apprentices and employers. The Apprenticeship Standards have been developed to attract new talent into the Sector, to upskill existing staff, and to assist organisations and staff to prepare and develop their skills and behaviours.
Sysco Business Skills Academy is one of the first training providers in the UK to deliver the Housing Apprenticeship Standard. Delivery is designed entirely to suit the needs of both employer and learner including blended learning solutions which include on-line e-learning. We deliver the complete learning and development programmes for the new Apprenticeship Standards at Level 2, 3 and 4.

This qualification is for those entering the sector and occupations that are entry level roles. It is customer facing and primarily responsible for the administrative work needed to support the creation and sustainment of successful tenancies and leaseholds in both social and private sectors.

This qualification is for members of staff who are in customer facing roles and who are primarily responsible for the creation and sustainment of successful tenancies in the private and social rented sectors.

This qualification is for management occupations in both social / private sectors who are responsible for the management and delivery of related services within their business/service area(s). The role involves the management of resources with delegated authority to deliver the business objectives.

Housing Training - Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH)


Sysco Business Skills Academy has a proven track record in the development and delivery of CIH accredited Housing Training to organisations. The CIH is the largest awarding body for housing qualifications. Sysco are accredited by the CIH to deliver courses at Level 2, 3, 4 and 5. We deliver the complete learning and development programmes for Apprentices undertaking standards at level 2, 3 and 4 and have developed a variety of pathways that are tailored specifically to meet the training and development needs of those working in each area of Housing.
Sysco Business Skills Academy also incorporates CIH qualifications in our delivery of the new Apprenticeship Standards. Delivery is designed entirely to suit the needs of both employer and learner including blended learning solutions which include on-line e-learning.
Housing Training - CIH Level 2 Housing Practice Certificate (click for more info)

The Level 2 Certificate has been designed to meet the learning needs of a wide range of people including:
  • Those people not currently working in housing but considering front line positions as a career option.
  • Tenants wishing to explore issues to enhance their personal involvement and / or understanding of issues.
  • People who are new to housing and apprentices undertaking the associated Apprenticeship Standard.
  • Workers in a frontline position.
  • Workers in a sector closely related to housing who are seeking to improve their general awareness of issues.
The Level 2 Certificate in Housing gives you the introductory skills, knowledge and understanding to work effectively within the sector. Level 2 is equivalent to a GCSE (grades A-C) or an NVQ Level 2. The Level 2 Certificate can work as an ideal induction programme.

The CIH Level 3 Certificate in Housing is a vocationally related qualification for the social housing sector, and is suitable for:
  • People working in the sector.
  • Tenants wishing to get actively involved in the delivery of services.
  • Frontline workers who want to develop skills.
  • People working in a specialist area of housing.
  • Apprentices and staff undertaking the associated Apprenticeship Standard.
The qualification aims to:
  • Develop key skills and knowledge necessary to participate in housing practice.
  • Provide learners with a detailed understanding of a specialist area.
  • Prepare learners for study at Level 4.
  • Develop key skills and knowledge necessary to participate in housing practice.
Learners can follow a range of Pathways including, Managing Services and Managing Neighbourhoods

The aim of this programme is to provide staff working at or aspiring to a supervisory or management level with a qualification to suit their needs. It also aims to prepare learners for further study and progression at undergraduate and in some cases post graduate level.
The qualification can be studied as part of the Senior Housing / Property Management Apprenticeship Standard. Learners can follow a range of Pathways including Managing Neighbourhoods, Support for Independent Living, Planning and Development.
