Every employer must assess and manage health and safety. Accidents and ill health can ruin lives and damage business. Organisations are not expected to eliminate all risk, but they are required to protect people as far as 'reasonably practicable'. This course is suitable for anyone who has a responsibility to conduct a risk assessment or has an involvement in the risk assessment processes.

  • Appreciate the concept of risk assessment and its implication in a working environment
  • Gaining a practical understanding of the application of risk management 
  • Understand the role of recording, monitoring and reviewing risk assessments

  • Identify the legal framework for assessing risk
  • Understanding the key issues and benefits associated with assessing risk
  • Definitions of 'hazard' and 'risks' and the difference between them
  • Understanding the importance of identifying those people who may be affected by workplace hazards and those who may be most vulnerable 
  • Qualifying risk (High, Medium and Low)
  • Recommending suitable controls to eliminate/control risks using the hierarchy of risk management strategies
  • Recording your assessment in an appropriate format
  • Monitoring and reviewing risk assessments 
  • Understanding the meaning of 'Competence' in risk assessment and when to call for 'expert' advice

Successful delegates are awarded a Certificate of Attendance on completion.
