Any candidate who is involved with the movement and storage of products, which are essential to logistics operations in most product centred organisations. The award is ideal for candidates who are involved in managing stock; auditing inventories; keep equipment in good working order; processing returned goods; or manage the receipt, storage and dispatch of goods.
Learners will achieve recognised qualifications and will improve their skills in areas most appropriate for their specific job role. Candidates will understand the significance of team-working, the importance of adhering to processes, taking responsibility of quality of goods and working to tight schedules. Raising awareness within Health and Safety is also a key element to this programme.
Candidates will be allocated an individual tutor who will visit them at the workplace once every 3 - 4 weeks. They will use a variety of different assessment methods to demonstrate competence within the diploma ranging from observations, work products, witness statements, professional discussions, question and answers and workbooks. In addition learners will be given underpinning knowledge within their role and on completion of the test will gain the Technical Certificate Qualification.
As part of the Warehousing and Storage Apprenticeship Diploma programme every learner will be able to complete their Key Skills certificates. These are practical skills in Communication and Application of Number that all individuals need to operate confidently, effectively and independently in life and at work. The Key Skills awards give learners the opportunity to develop, practice and apply skills in meaningful workplace contexts and upon completion of the tests and a portfolio will complete the Key Skills qualifications.
To achieve the Level 2 Apprenticeship Diploma in Warehousing and Storage, learners must gain 28 credits of which will come from a mixture of the mandatory units and optional units. It will take up to 12 months to achieve a Level 2 Diploma.
Mandatory units within the award will cover developing Health and Safety and developing effective working relationships. Candidates will then work with their allocated assessor to choose the most relevant optional units for their job role which could include; operating specialist machinery, maintain the safety of hazardous goods and materials, maintain hygiene standards, manage the receipt, storage or dispatch of goods, audit stock levels and stock records and many more.
