Team Leader Level 2 Apprenticeship

Who should do this award?

No matter the type of organisation or sector we work in, essential to the success of every organisation is having good Team Leaders and Managers. This programme is intended for those individuals who have responsibility for the delivery of a service or a responsibility for the work of others. It is suitable for people who are entering management, or who have the ability and the opportunity to demonstrate management and leadership skills by providing leadership for a team, encouraging innovation, allocating and checking work.

What are the benefits of this award?

The skills gained on this programme are valuable, transferable and will encourage effective leadership which will positively impact the wider team. Candidates will learn the theories of team leading and how business works, as well as understanding how to manage their own workload; lead others; work effectively with other people; and learn how to communicate effectively through talking and discussion with others.

Assessment Methods

Candidates will be allocated an individual assessor who will visit them at the workplace once every 3 - 4 weeks. They will use a variety of different assessment methods to demonstrate competence within the diploma ranging from observations, work products, witness statements, professional discussions, question and answers and workbooks. In addition learners will be given underpinning knowledge within a Leadership role and on completion of the test will gain the Technical Certificate Qualification.

As part of the Team Leading Apprenticeship Diploma programme every learner will be able to complete their Key Skills certificates. These are practical skills in Communication and Application of Number that all individuals need to operate confidently, effectively and independently in life and at work. The Key Skills awards give learners the opportunity to develop, practice and apply skills in meaningful workplace contexts and upon completion of the tests and a portfolio will complete the Key Skills qualifications.

How many credits will be achieved?

To achieve the Level 2 Apprenticeship Diploma, learners must gain 17 credits of which 10 credits must come from the mandatory units. It will take up to 12 months to achieve a Level 2 Diploma.

What can the course cover?

As well as completing core units which cover Communication, Developing Work Relationships and Managing Personal Development. Candidates will be able to choose from a wide variety of optional units and will be guided by the assessor to opt for those most relevant to their job role and current organisational needs. Examples of some optional Units are; Managing Conflict; Make Effective Decisions; Plan, Allocate and Monitor Work; Set Objectives and Provide Support for your team.
