IT Level 3 Apprenticeship

 

Who should do this award?

Today most business environments require employees to use IT applications. An IT user is not necessarily a job title but relates to anyone in the workplace that uses a computer from. Any candidate undertaking an ITQ Advanced programme could work in a variety of roles from a junior role right up to Director Level. They just need to be able to show an understanding of IT systems and be able to suggest improvements to current systems.

What are the benefits of this award?

Assessment Methods

Candidates will be allocated an individual assessor who will visit the workplace once every 3 - 4 weeks. The ITQ award will not only focus on assessment and competencies, but will also focus on one to one tutoring to up skill each candidate and is ideally delivered through the E-Portfolio route.

As part of the ITQ Apprenticeship Diploma programme every learner will be able to complete their Key Skills certificates. These are practical skills in Communication and Application of Number that all individuals need to operate confidently, effectively and independently in life and at work. The Key Skills awards give learners the opportunity to develop, practice and apply skills in meaningful workplace contexts.

How many credits will be achieved?

To achieve the Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship Diploma, learners must gain 39 credits of which 5 credits must come from the mandatory unit (Unit 301) and a minimum of 17 credits from the optional units. It will take up to 12-15 months to achieve a Level 3 Diploma.

What can the course cover?

  • Internet Options – personalise your browser and enable your system to be more user friendly and efficient.
  • Design/create/evaluate/modify a spreadsheet. Describe the improvements and detail the efficiencies – ultimately resulting in a more effective operating system and sometimes leading to a reduction in workload.

Structure of the IT Level 3 Qualification

The Qualification is made up of Mandatory and optional units, in order to determine which optional units are most appropriate for you a 'Skills Scan'  should be completed before your initial assessment with your training advisor so that you are able to discuss your choices in detail.

To achieve the Level 3 Certificate in IT learners must gain 39 Credits, 17 of these credits will come from the Mandatory units, leaving a minimum of 22 credits coming from the optional units with at least 5 at level 3.

  • Unit 301 - Improve Productivity Using IT 
  • Unit 334 - Understanding the Potential of IT 
  • Unit 335 - Developing Personal and Team Effectiveness Using IT
