Business Administration Level 3

Who should do this award?

The Diploma is aimed at any one in a role whereby they are organising resources or people. Individuals are likely to be in an important support role within the business and handle a variety of responsibilities within their role. Examples of some ideal job roles to undertake this programme include; Personal Assistants, Secretaries, Office Managers, Project Support Officers, Marketing Administrators and Events Officers.

What are the benefits of this award?

Candidates will be able to demonstrate improved confidence, increased efficiencies within their role and great understanding of underpinning knowledge. In addition learners will hold an understanding of how to evaluate and make improvements within their role and responsibilities which should have a wider positive organisational impact.

Assessment Methods

Candidates will be allocated an individual assessor who will visit the learner at the workplace once every 3 - 4 weeks. They will use a variety of different assessment methods to demonstrate competence within the diploma ranging from observations, work products, witness statements, professional discussions, question and answers and workbooks. In addition learners will be given underpinning knowledge within the Business Administration role and on completion of the test, will gain the Technical Certificate Qualification.

As part of the Apprenticeship Diploma programme every learner will be able to complete their Key Skills certificates. These are practical skills in Communication and Application of Number that all individuals need to operate confidently, effectively and independently in life and at work. Upon completion of the tests and a portfolio will complete the Key Skills qualifications.

How many credits will be achieved?

To achieve the Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship Diploma, learners must gain 40 credits of which 13 credits must come from the mandatory units. Learners can choose to gain some credits from other Level 2 or Level 4 units. It will take between 12 and 15 months to complete the Business Administration Level 3 Apprenticeship Diploma.

What does the course cover?

Learners will complete core units which cover managing and improving own performance in a business environment and communication. In addition to these assessors will work closely with each learner to understand their job role and the business needs and will guide learners to choose the most appropriate units to their job role to gain the credits necessary. Optional unit choices range from solving business problems, contributing to decision making, supervising a team, analysing and reporting data, deliver, monitor and evaluate customer service and many more.


Structure of the Business Administration Level 3 Apprenticeship Qualification

The Qualification is made up of Mandatory and Optional units, in order to determine which optional units are most appropriate for you a ‘Skills Scan’  should be completed before your initial assessment with your training advisor so that you are able to discuss your choices in detail.

To achieve the Level 3 Certificate in Business Administration Learners must gain 40 Credits. A minimum of 27 credits must be at Level 3.

Mandatory Unit Structure

Group A - 4 Mandatory Units with a combined credit value of 13.

Unit 301 - Manage Own Performance in a Business Environment

Unit 302 - Evaluate and Improve own Performance in a Business Environment

Unit 303 - Work in a Business Environment

Unit 304 - Communicate in a Business Environment

Optional Unit Structure

  • Minimum of 14 Credits from Optional Group B
  • Maximum of 13 Credits from Optional Group C
