MAKING PROGRESS

Two young learners, who attended Sysco’s Employability training programmes are now busy working and gaining experience in the Sysco office!

Eighteen-year-old Rachel Ikin attended the e2e Programme early in 2008.

Rachel was unsure of what she wanted to do when she left school at 16. However, she thought that working in an office might help her decide. Sysco’s Placement Officer arranged for her to work two days a week at an IT and marketing company, Multi-Solutions, in the centre Liverpool. During the following two months, Rachel gained experience in data input, creating spreadsheets and dealing with telephone enquiries. At the end of the placement, she was offered an Apprenticeship, and took on the role of Office Assistant in September 08. In July 09, Rachel was offered a post as Assistant with the Quality Team at Sysco, benefiting from training on the NES (non-employed status) learner programme. Rachel enjoys working at the computer, updating audits and inputting observation reports.
